Samuel Compton Samuel has managed the supervision and delivery of evaluation reports to donors over 32 governance based projects between 2010 - 2013 for US, EU, British and Norwegian government donors, as well a number of US based foundations. He has designed and piloted a new monitoring and evaluation system with USAID M&E experts that has been adopted as the standard approach to be used on other civil society and governance projects across the world. He has managed an M&E assignment in Nigeria on behalf of a basket fund, led by DFID that focused on advocacy, government communications and accountability activities. He provided consultant support an M&E based election activity in Serbia for the OSCE, 2002. This focused on political parties and their effective use of donor supported communications advice. Currently completing an MSc in Applied Peace and Conflict Studies Samuel is studying evaluation methodologies and their application to social science based research, which has relevance to civil society, governance, advocacy and accountability-based activities.
Marika Djolai Marika is an international development specialist with 15 years of experience in non-profit/NGO sector, international organizations and development media, with M.Sc. in Anthropology and Development Studies from UCL. She has practical experience of managing projects abroad and is used to working in complex political environments. As a Head of Project at the BBC World Service Trust, she successfully implemented large project with over thirty local partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a Senior Social Protection and Inclusion Consultant for UNICEF she developed a methodology for monitoring project implementation and reporting. For the British Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina she designed and delivered community-mapping training for Active Citizens to develop new skills and to create networking opportunities between young leaders and local stakeholders and developed Social Action Project in their communities. She has also conducted an evaluation of the British Council ProAccession project; extensive work-skills training delivered for employees of BiH's Ministry of Security and Ministry of Defense. Marika is currently completing a PhD in Development Studies at the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex. She has a track record of raising funds including Westminster Foundation for Democracy, SIDA, and Leverhulme Trust.
Mark Covey Mark is a strategic communications expert with over 20 years experience in the international development sector. He has worked at senior management level developing and rolling out organisational and communication strategies. He also headed up external communications and advocacy for Panos London, one of the world’s leading media and communication NGOs. At Panos, he successfully designed, fundraised for and managed multi-annual and multi-country media and development awareness projects – and increased impact by building strategic relationships with mainstream media outlets such as The Guardian. He has extensive experience of designing and writing funding proposals with theories of change, deliverables, budgets, timeframes, logframes, risk analysis, and detailed monitoring and evaluation plans, for a range of donors including the European Commission. Mark has attended several World AIDS Conferences, mentoring the design and production of Panoscope, a daily conference magazine written by developing world journalists. He also produced an all-weather outdoor exhibition for the World AIDS conference in Mexico City highlighting the impact of HIV and AIDS on children’s development in southern Africa.
Clodagh Miskelly Clodagh is a specialist in participatory approaches to media, communications and research through the use of creative methodologies including digital media; photography; moving image; oral testimony; interactive narrative; location sensitive media; digital storytelling; and social media. Over 15 years’ experience of developing, researching and implementing communication for social change projects in the public, international development, voluntary, community and education sectors. Extensive experience of working in the areas of disability; public health; youth; urban planning; asylum; migration; public engagement; advocacy; cohesion; skills development; capacity building; and citizenship education. Experience in the design, management and delivery of consultancy on the ethics of representation and participation; the role of culture in development and social change; and public engagement and coproduction of projects often in challenging environments.
Anastasiya Nurzhynska Anastasiya is a dynamic communication specialist with over fifteen years of experience working within government, civic and international organisations including UNICEF, World Bank and European Union projects. Skilled in development of public outreach campaigns to introduce governmental reforms, support conflict resolution and promote behaviour change on social issues. Anastasiya shares her professional experience as lecturer and trainer. Ukrainian native, Anastasiya has considerable experience in the Europe, including Eastern Partnership region and Balkans, Africa, Asia with fluent English, French, Russian and Ukrainian.
Siobhan Warrington Siobhan is the director of Oral Testimony Works. She has worked on participatory research and communications in international development for 17 years, starting with a participatory research project on gender roles and farming systems in Northern Pakistan. Whilst at Panos London (1999-2012) she designed and implemented single and multi-country participatory communications and research projects on several themes including living with HIV and AIDS; internal displacement; and environmental change. Projects involved partnering with national NGOs as well as international agencies such as Save the Children UK, IFAD and IPPF. Her specialism is community-based oral testimony, but she also works with other approaches such as photography and video, as well as the mainstream media. She is an experienced trainer, researcher and project manager and has edited and produced a range of outputs (publications, exhibitions, films and online materials). Siobhan is a committee member of the UK Oral History Society and editor of the International Work section of the Oral History Journal. She is also a visiting practitioner at the Centre for Applied Human Rights, the University of York.
